Why is this Passover different?

All of Israel is on lockdown and ordered by the government to stay behind their doors.

According to a Fox survey, 97 percent of Americans are complying with social distancing.

Britain’s PM Boris Johnson is in hospital with the virus.

This is a divinely appointed week of believing God for MERCY.

Let us pray that the death angel will pass over during this Passover and that the power of the plague will be broken during this Holy Week of Passover and Resurrection Sunday, according to God’s principles in 2 Chronicles 7: 13-14. Also according to God’s word in Exodus 12: 13,

“…and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

Believers in Messiah Jesus/Yeshua are very grateful that during Passover and Holy Week, he willingly donated his sinless Blood as an offering, an atonement, for the sins of the world.

“For you know that you were redeemed … not with perishable things like silver or gold, but by the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb without spot or blemish.” (1 Peter 1: 18-19)

This is the season when Jews obey the LORD’s command to remember His miraculous deliverance of Israel from Egyptian bondage.

A question asked in the course of every Passover meal is,“Why is this night different from all other nights?”

The question certainly bears a startlng significance this year.  It will be very “different”— no large family gatherings.

Yesterday evening Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu  made an edict, “On the evening of the Passover Seder it is forbidden to go out of your house”– to be safe from the coronavirus.

Rabbis are taking note that God gave specific instructions to Israel regarding the first Passover meal in Egypt,

“And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin.  And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.”  (Exodus 12:22)

All over the Internet the Jewish people are also sharing a prophecy by the Jewish sage the Baal Haturim, made more than 750 years ago, who prophesied that the future Redemption (referring to times of the Messiah) will resemble the eve of the Redemption in Egypt “in that we won’t be able to leave our front door steps.” When the Jewish people talk like this, it can only mean that OUR King Messiah Yeshua is coming back very soon!

There is so much symbolism fulfilled in the Passover meal, which was the Last Supper of Jesus.

Much truth about Him is memorialised in the seder. The empty chair, the Elijah cup, the striped and pierced unleavened bread, the shrouded hidden broken third piece of matzo bread discovered by children at the end of the meal as the dessert, Messiah standing at the open door. Rev.3:20. And this year, families are separated as prophesied in Zechariah 12:12 when the nation mourns for the pierced Messiah, “every family apart.”

This year is like a dress rehearsal for the Second Coming. So far there is still a missing element–the deep cries and mourning over pierced Messiah–but it will come, because God has exalted his Word above his Name. (Psalm 138:2)

During this Holy Week, as we are sequestered with God, now is the time to hear his voice and to make authoritative decrees in prayer!

“Bessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord….”
