President Barack Obama wrote in today’s Haaretz newspaper in Israel, “Peace is the only path to true security.”

In an exclusive article for Haaretz’s “Israel Conference on Peace,” Obama says that the only “solution” is a democratic, Jewish state living side-by-side in peace and security with a viable, independent Palestinian state.
“As a father myself,” Obama wrote, “I cannot imagine the pain endured by the parents of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach, who were tragically kidnapped and murdered in June.  I am also heartbroken by the senseless abduction and murder of Mohammed Hussein Abu Khdeir, whose life was stolen from him and his family.  At this dangerous moment, all parties must protect the innocent and act with reasonableness and restraint, not vengeance and retribution.”
However, pushing for a false “peace agreement” is not genuine shalom when Israel’s enemies vow open destruction.
Here is a provocative question for prayer: Is a two state solution the “final solution” repackaged?
“They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:14)
“While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come suddenly, as labor pains ….”  (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
