While much of the world ignored the Syrian refugee crisis until recently, Israel has been helping people effected by the civil war since the beginning.

In this report, the IDF’s Deputy Surgeon General, Col Dr. Tarif Bader, talks about “lending a helping hand over hostile borders.”

Israel has treated more than 1500 Syrians in field hospitals in the northern part of Israel.  Dr. Bader said, “For us it doesn’t matter if they were fighters or not. They are suffering people, they are our neighbors, even though relations between Israel and Syria are not a state of peace.”
