With the 9th of Av happening this weekend, Israel and the Jews mourn and look back at calamitous aspects of their history, including destruction of their two temples. Will the fire and brimstone themes of the Hebrew Scriptures be part of the Bible’s apocalyptic end-times? The prophet Elijah called down heavenly fire in the Old Testament and the Book of Revelation heralds fiery judgement on the world during the Great Tribulation. But the fiery prophet who never died is promised a comeback prophetically. Christine Darg ties together this Biblical thread of destruction, judgement and future hope.

I have a question. Why don’t you read the scripture from the King James Version instead of telling stories. People need to hear the Word of the LORD not the theologies of men. Also, I didn’t find 850 people in Ezekiel that you mentioned. This is what I found. “1 Kings 18:22 Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.” Is there another place?
