Question: Since the Ethiopian Jews asked about their “mother, Rachel,” how can they be from the tribe of Dan? They would have to be from Joseph or Benjamin. Can you please clarify/explain? Thanks so very much!

Rachel is considered one of the matriarchs of Israel, just as is her sister Leah, so in that sense she is a mother in Israel to all those who claim descent from Jacob.
