There are so many signs that Jesus the Messiah will soon return, just as he promised, but many people will be caught unaware, just as many missed the Lord’s first coming. Jesus will return soon, and I’m going to share with you my top 40 Bible signs of the Second Coming so you’ll be ready!

Sign number one was mentioned in Matthew 24:33 that many false prophets and false teachers will introduce heresies, and they will unfortunately cause many persons to reject the truth of God’s Word. Today because of the influence and media attention given to pop atheists and false teachers, tragically many people are brainwashed into rejecting the Bible out of hand. It’s the case of the old adage, that if you hear a lie often enough, you’ll believe it. There’s a proliferation of religious leaders who are only out for themselves. They’ll say anything that sounds good to exploit you. Of course, they’ll come to a bad end, because God never just stands by and lets that kind of thing go on forever.

The second sign is that Jesus’ Great Commission in the New Testament predicted that the Good News of forgiveness of sins and salvation through Jesus the Messiah will be preached as a witness to all nations. Did you know that the Bible or portions of the Bible have been translated into over 2,400 languages and dialects? That covers over 90% of the world’s population; and through radio and television, the Gospel is being preached to all nations. That’s why satellites are often referred to as angels. In Revelation 14: 6, John prophesied, “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth–to every nation, tribe, language and people.”

Number 3 is perhaps the biggest sign and that is THE sign of the regathering of the nation of Israel. Many prophecies, such as Isaiah 11:11; Ezekiel chapters 37, 38 and 39 and Jesus’ own prediction in Luke 21, clearly foretold that the Jewish people would be regathered in the land of Israel in the last days. NEVER until our generation has a nation that has been dispersed to every corner of the globe, been regathered back to their ancient homeland.  The Bible said Israel would become a wasteland when the Jews were expelled from their land. Indeed, during the past 1900 years, the land of Israel became a desolate wasteland. But according to a specific prophecy in Isaiah 66:8, Israel suddenly became a nation again in one day on May 14, 1948. Jews have returned from the north, south, east, and west as predicted by the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah. Jews have emigrated from Europe, Asia, the Americas, from everywhere!

Nearly a million Jews have emigrated from Russia in the north. Israel, once a desert, is blossoming and exporting produce to the world. Israel’s increased rainfall and world-renowned irrigation technology have caused the land to blossom and fill the world with fruit and flowers!

So…sign number 4 is that Israel is literally booming and prospering economically as a great start-up nation after laying barren for nearly two millennia–and this economic prosperity is happening while many nations are hurting economically and despite the fact that many anti-Semites are attempting to boycott Israel. But God had promised through the prophets Joel, Amos and Isaiah that Israel would plant vineyards and trees. Since 1900 more than a billion trees have been planted in Israel!

The Hebrew language is sign 5. In the 19th century the Zionist movement revived Hebrew and one man, Eliezer Ben Yehuda, wrote a modern Hebrew dictionary and newspaper and almost single-handedly revived the ancient Hebrew. It’s never happened before, that an ancient liturgical language used only in synagogues has been resurrected and is spoken on the streets of Jerusalem. Think about that!

Sign 6 is the city of Jerusalem itself. Jesus predicted that Jerusalem would once again be in Jewish lands in the last days! His disciples had asked Jesus if he would at that time restore the kingdom of David to Israel, but Jesus lamented in his Olivet Discourse in Luke 21:24 that, first the holy city would be trampled down by Gentiles… until the times of the Gentiles would be fulfilled.  It has taken nearly 2,000 years for the times of the Gentiles to be fulfilled. Since 70 A.D., Jerusalem had been trampled and controlled by Gentiles ….but the Jews miraculously regained control of their capital city in 1967, in the Six-Day War. Keep your eyes upon this major sign, the sign of Jerusalem, because the nations are trying to impose their solutions upon Israel’s capital, but God says through the prophet Zechariah that Jerusalem cannot be moved. The United Nations, the Vatican, and many world leaders want to make Jerusalem an international city. However, God says that the city is His and He has given it to the Jews. Despite God’s warning, UN resolution 476 flagrantly reiterates that Israel’s claim to Jerusalem are null and void. As a result, most countries refuse to transfer their embassies to Jerusalem – Israel’s capital.

Sign 7 is the terrible sign of worldwide anti-Semitism. History confirms that the Jewish people have been persecuted like no other people group. Hitler tried to exterminate them, and the Antichrist will attempt to destroy them during the Tribulation, but he will fail because God is the Guardian of the destiny of the Jewish people. Today, anti-Semitism is a global epidemic. Over 700 General Assembly resolutions have been passed since the establishment of the United Nations and nearly 450 condemn Israel. Out of 190 nations in the UN, over 60% of all General Assembly resolutions have rebuked just one member, Israel!

Sign 8 is the sign of Psalm 83 which names all of Israel’s surrounding neighbours as united against Israel. Truly today Israel is surrounded by Muslim nations sworn to her destruction. Verse four says, “Come let us wipe them out as a nation so that the name of Israel will be remembered no more.”

Number 9 is the Bible fact that Israel is supenaturally invincible. Since 1948, tiny Israel has been attacked in three major wars and several lesser wars. Yet despite being vastly outnumbered, the Jews have defeated all their attacking foes. Even during the battle in the future, when it looks like Israel will be destroyed, the Lord promises to intervene and to save Israel.

Sign 10 is that the Bible predicted the land of Israel would be partitioned by all nations according to Joel 3:2 and Daniel 11:39. In 1947, UN Resolution 181 planned the partitioning of the Land of Israel, which God stated is really his land and it angers him that nations parted his land and continue to try to do so by attempting to create another Palestinian state.

Sign 11—keep your eyes on Jerusalem’s Eastern Gate. As a matter of fact, our ministry used to have a webcamera focused on the Eastern Gate until building construction unfortunately obliterated our view! The Bible says in Ezekiel 44: 1-3 that  the Eastern Gate, sometimes called the Golden Gate, will remain closed until the Messiah returns.

Sign 12 – The Jews who return to Israel will have no king until Jesus returns, according to Hosea 3: 4-5. Indeed, Israel has been without a king for over 2500 years. Israel is not a theocracy; presently the Jewish state is governed by a democracy comprised of multiple political parties.

Sign 13 –The ancient Jewish Temple will be rebuilt. In the Bible, the prophet Daniel, Jesus the Messiah, as well as the Apostles Paul and John all refer to the temple as being a reality in the last days. The Temple Institute in Jerusalem’s Jewish Quarter has created the furniture, vessels, and priestly garments for the Third Temple. There are also several hundred young Jewish men in training for the Levitical priesthood.

Sign 14 is Iran (the Biblical nation of Persia) mentioned as one of the troublesome nations that will come against restored Israel in Ezekiel 38. According to the Koran and the Hadith, Muslims are commanded to fight non-believers in so-called holy war called jihad unless they convert to Islam.

Watch the nation of Iran as well as sign number 15, the nation of Turkey (which many scholars identify as Gomer mentioned in Ezekiel 38). Turkey will also join in the attack on Israel. In 2002, Turkey elected a pro-Islamic party to govern the country. In 2005, Hitler’s anti-Semitic manifesto Mein Kampf became a bestseller in Turkey. In 2007, Turkey elected an Islamist president. And increasingly Turkey has become at odds with Israel such as the Gaza flotilla incident in 2010.

Sign 16 is the global cry for peace  as predicted in the New Testament in 1 Thessalonians 5:3. Never has there been such a concerted, global effort to bring about peace at any cost but we don’t need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Lord’s coming cannot be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody is congratulating each other saying—“we can take it easy! We have peace and security”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly as birth pangs to a pregnant woman.

Sign 17 is found in Isaiah 17, verses 1 and 14. Watch Damascus, the capital of Syria; it will be destroyed, a heap of ruins. Damascus is increasingly in the news and extremely anti-Semitic. Many terrorist organizations have bases in Damascus. God declares that Damascus will become a ruinous heap because they have violently taken what was not theirs. In 2007 Israel vowed to retaliate  if Syria attacks Israel with its chemical weapons. Damascus in many ways it is already in ruins. Recent photos of Damascus show it to be already in a state of ruins in many areas.

Sign 18 – Today’s global tele-communications were predicted in the Book of Revelation 11:9-10 and also Chapter 17:8. The Bible prophesies that the entire world will see certain events unfolding. The invention of computers, television, global satellite networks, mobile phones, handsets and tablets make it possible for news to travel the world at the speed of light. Remember that in the apostle John’s day, news traveled at the speed of horseback.

Sign 19 is that the human species will be capable of destroying all life. When Jesus made this prophecy in Matthew 24: 22. the weapons of His day were swords and spears. But today, with nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, it’s possible to wipe out all flesh on planet earth. The use of nuclear weapons is also pictured graphically in Zechariah 14:12, “Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.” The neutron bomb melts and dissolves its victims just as God warned 2500 years ago.

Sign 20— chaotic weather is not new, but we’ve been witnessing an increase in freakish weather. In Luke 21: 25, Jesus foresaw tsunamis by saying that the seas and the waves will roar in the last days. He also likened these signs to birth pangs. Furthermore, the apostle Paul reminded us that the creation itself will be delivered from the curse at the end of the age and that the whole creation groans with birth pangs. Therefore, the creation itself will travail as the end times draw near.

Sign 21 is the move toward a global government as predicted by the prophet Daniel and the Book of Revelation. The former Roman Empire which encompassed present-day Europe will revive and eventually dominate the world. The European Union has steadily moved forward in its attempt to unite Europe politically and economically. It has succeeded in creating a European parliament, a court, and a common currency. Some teachers predict that the Ottoman Empire will revive to rule the world before Jesus returns.

Sign 22—Jesus said many wars will continue to erupt and the earth would be filled with violence. There are dozens of armed conflicts in the world today. Never in history have so many nations stockpiled weapons of mass destruction. Fifty years ago the violent murder of an unborn child was illegal in most countries. But now some statistics report that 46 million children are aborted each year. That’s the equivalent of the population of some nations.

Sign 23–Multitudes of people will have access to travel according to a prophecy in Daniel 12:4. Think about this: Prior to the Industrial Revolution, few individuals ever ventured beyond their own communities for their entire lifetime; only the privileged had access to travel. Until recent history, horse, foot, stagecoach and boats were the only modes of transport. Yet today we can travel by subway, bus, car, train, ocean liners and jet airplanes. Millions of people are travelling to and fro just as Daniel prophesied 2,500 years ago!

Sign 24 is the exponential explosion in knowledge and technology, also prophesied in Daniel 12:4. With the advent of the Internet, it’s estimated that knowledge doubles every five years. This exponential increase is beyond what anyone could have imagined in another century!

Sign 25–According to Revelation 13:16, the final generation will be technically set up for consumers to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead in order to buy and sell. Already tattoos, piercings, and marks on the skin are becoming increasingly acceptable.  Today, for the first time in history, global tracking and marking technology is available. This was unthinkable in the Apostle John’s day. Globalists in every level of government are seeking to unite the world. Connecting the world monetarily is crucial to their goal. The Man of Sin will eventually control all banking and commerce. This prophecy of technical know-how was penned 2,000 years before our computer-driven society.

Sign 26— Just a few decades ago, some scientists were forecasting that medical advances might soon eradicate all deadly diseases. But despite an explosion in medical knowledge, Jesus said deadly viruses and pestilences will characterize the last days. A recurrent theme in movies dramatizes just how plausible is a worldwide contagion and epidemic.  Certainly epidemic already is drug abuse, both illegal drugs and mind-altering drugs.

Sign 27— Famines were prophesied by Jesus in Luke 21:11 and also in Revelation 6. According to the United Nations, an estimated near 900 million people went hungry in a recent year.

Sign 28 — Great and fearful signs from heaven were prophesied in Luke 21:11, and also the prophesied time of the Blood Moons of the prophet Joel that we entered into in Passover 2014. These signs are God’s billboard in the skies, telling us to look up, our redemption is drawing near!

Sign 29 is that there will also be signs not only in the moon but in the sun. A solar eclipse will come in the middle of the current Blood Moon tetrad. The heavens declare the glory of God and He is going to show portents to signal the end of this age.

Sign 30 is the rise of Asia.  According to the Book of Revelation, the East will be capable of deploying a 200-million-man army during earth’s final days.  When the apostle John penned this prophecy 2000 years ago, there were only an estimated couple hundred million people on the entire planet. Yet today, according to one source, China alone has 280 million men fit for military service!

Sign 31— Earthquakes and tsunamis continue to make frequent news headlines. Increasing seismic activity is one of the powerful indicators of the Last Days according to the Bible.

Sign 32 concerns the state of marriage.  Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:3 that marriage would be forbidden by many. Although the Bible states that marriage is honorable, the Catholic Church forbids hundreds of thousands of priests, nuns, monks bishops and cardinals from enjoying the benefits of marriage and this has contributed to the problem of sexual child abuse and other sins in the church. Jesus himself said that the last days would be like the days of Lot when sodomy and sexual perversions were prevalent.

Therefore following on is Sign 33, the prediction of rampant sexual immorality. Access to pornography has exploded in our generation. If Jesus said that adultery can be committed in the heart, engaging in Internet porn or looking at pornographic magazines and movies is equivalent to fornication and adultery. Nearly every movie includes blasphemy or some form of immorality. The world is awash with sexual perversions: May God have mercy on our children.

End-time sign 34 is inordinate self-love.  The Apostle Paul said people would be totally self-centered and increasingly rebellious. Even the mainstream churches emphasize feel-good messages about self-esteem and wordly success!

Sign 35 is worldwide persecution of all true believers. Jesus said his disciples will be hated by all men for His name’s sake. The banning of prayer, the Ten Commandments, nativity scenes, and so forth, reflects this growing trend. More Christians have been martyred during the past century than during all previous history. As I speak many believers are in prison and being murdered in places such as northern Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia North Korea, accused of blasphemy and false charges, for faithfully preaching the Gospel.

Sign 36 sounds like science fiction, but according to the Bible, the last days will be like the days of Noah, when fallen angels interacted with men. During the past decades, there has been an explosion of UFO sightings. Be careful that nobody deceives you: The deception of fallen angels will appear again at the end of the age.

Sign 37 is the great Apostasy as church-goers reject sound doctrine, forsake the 10 Commandments and look increasingly to Rome rather than to Jerusalem where Jesus will return. Rampant replacement theology increasingly denies that God will once again pass the Gospel baton to the Jews. God commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to minister mercy to the Jews in their time of regathering, but instead, in the mainline churches, there’s  an invasion of witchcraft, yoga and other practices forbidden in the Bible.

Sign 38 has come to fore in the news more recently and that is, the Muslim coalition that will attack the Holy Land according to Exekiel will be led by Russia. Have you noticed lately how aggressive the Russian bear is becoming? Numerous historical references make it plain that Magog in Ezekiel 38 stands for modern Russia, and the other countries named in this chapter form a coalition based upon Islam. Directly or indirectly, the Russians are already a supplier of arms for the nations who will form this coalition.

Sign 39 concerns Babylon. According to the Book of Revelation, Babylon will emerge as a prominent force or city in the last days. Bible scholars are divided on whether this is literal Babylon which Sadaam Hussein began to rebuild or if it refers to Mecca or Rome. There are several religious systems that would seem to fit the bill.

And finally we’ve come to Sign 40 –which is mockery of the Second Coming, according to 2 Peter 3:3, “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.” Today people mock this kind of message, saying, “Oh, yeah, so what? these signs have always been around.” But here’s the quesiton I want to leave you with: Are you ready for the Second Coming? If your answer is NO, or if you’re not sure, I’ve got good news: if you’re willing to forsake and to repent of your sins and to receive Jesus the Messiah as your Saviour,  He WILL receive you and save you regardless of your religious background, ethnicity or past sins.  All you must do is to be willing to put your faith in Jesus’ finished work of Atonement on the Cross. Look to Heaven and say with me, “Father God, I do believe in my heart that you raised Messiah Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord!” Amen.
